The Event That Took Place
The Antigua-flagged, 4015 GRT container ship Olivia, which was located at the Miner Shipyard for repair purposes, suffered an accident by running aground 50 m offshore as a result of its ropes breaking due to a severe storm. The lower parts of the ship were damaged, its tanks filled with water, and due to the fuel on board, it also posed a serious risk of marine and environmental pollution.

Scope of the Studies
After the debris removal contract was signed, the following operations were carried out under the control of Customs Directorate officials:
- Before starting the works, the ship was surrounded by oil barriers and oil-absorbing materials were kept ready for the risk of leakage during the operation.
